In 2023, 30% of individuals and a quarter of businesses reported increased pressure and involvement in corruption, according to the latest report of the Center for the Study of Democracy. Against this background, the law enforcement system has an efficiency of 0.01%.

Bulgaria is among the 18 Nato countries that meet the criterion of allocating 2 per cent of GDP to defence, Defence Minister Todor Tagarev said on February 15 in Brussels, where he is participating on a meeting of the alliance’s defence ministers.

Eighteen migrants from Austria and 14 detained in other EU countries were returned to Bulgaria today, February 13, under the Dublin Regulation. Some of the migrants arrived by charter flight.

The protests of the farmers in the country continued with full force today, February 8. Burnt straw bales, dumped produce and key roads across the country blocked by heavy farming machinery marked the third day of discontent.

Within a month Bulgaria is expected to conclude an agreement with the US on the future construction of the seventh and eighth units at Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, said Energy Minister Rumen Radev, who explained that today he received a mandate from the government to conclude the agreement.
