In an interview for France24’s “Ici l’Europe” (Here Europe), Prime Minister
Edi Rama discussed Albania’s ongoing process of European integration and
Greece’s warning to impede the process over the “Beleri” issue.
The elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, who has been in prison since May
12, for buying votes, gave an interview to the Greek media ERT .

Fredi Beleri, who is in prison accused of buying votes, made a statement to the media from prison. Beleri has accused the former mayor of Himarë, Jorgo Goro, that if you have contact with him, you can get property in Himarë.

The Special
Appeals Court for Corruption and Organized Crime has ruled to keep Fredi
Beleri, the elected mayor of Himara, in prison. Beleri was arrested two days
before the May 14 elections on charges of vote-buying.
The
Political Assembly of the EPP in the European Parliament, which is being held
these days in Brussels, approved a resolution presented by the New Democracy
where it requests from the Albanian authorities the permission for Fredi
Beleri, elected mayor of Himara, to swear in.
The Foreign
Minister of Greece, Giorgos Gerapetritis, has called the extension of detention
for Fredi Beleri a clear violation of the presumption of innocence, which is
preventing him to swear as the mayor of Himarë.
