The pilots on board the USS Eisenhower aircraft carrier have spoken about the distress they’ve experienced since they began their mission against Yemen in the Red Sea.

In a video press conference on 4 January 2024 Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of US Naval Forces Central Command, US 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), gave a positive assessment of Operation ‘Prosperity Guardian’, which was launched by the US military to protect merchant ships in the Red Sea region.

USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group to leave E. Mediterranean

The Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier will return to its home port, the US Navy said on Monday, ending its deployment to the eastern Mediterranean, which started in support of Israel after the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas militants.

The two U.S. Navy amphibs that were deployed to the Red Sea to deter Iranian-allied Houthi rebels have now been withdrawn to the Mediterranean, though attacks by Houthi forces continue unabated.
