Former FBI official Charles McGonigal confessed to his guilt on Friday for accepting 225,000 US dollars from Albanian-American Agron Nezaj, who, as per court documents, had become an informant for the FBI’s investigation into McGonigal’s contacts and activities in Albania.

The Special Appeals Court for Corruption and Organized Crime has ruled to keep Fredi Beleri, the elected mayor of Himara, in prison. Beleri was arrested two days before the May 14 elections on charges of vote-buying.

Μία από τις μεγαλύτερες, ιστορικά, στρατιωτικές ασκήσεις,  αναπτύχθηκε στη ναυτική βάση ‘Πασαλιμάνι’ της Αυλώνας από τις ένοπλες δυνάμεις της Αλβανίας και του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου με τον τίτλο «Albania Lion 2011».

Η άσκηση 'αλβανικό λιοντάρι' ξεκίνησε  στις 27 Μαΐου και θα ολοκληρωθεί στις 3 Ιουνίου 2011. Είναι πρώτη σημαντική άσκηση που λαμβάνει χώρα στον τομέα της άμυνας μεταξύ των δύο συμμαχικών χωρών από τον Απρίλιο του 2009, που η Αλβανία έγινε μέλος της Συμμαχίας του ΝΑΤΟ.

Μια από τις πρώτες ενημερωτικές εκδοτικές προσπάθειες ιδιωτών, στην Αλβανία έφθασε στο τέλος της.
 Η εφημερίδα ‘albania’ που πρωτοκυκλοφόρησε πριν από μια δεκαπενταετία ανέστειλε χθες την έκδοσή της.
Όπως σημειώνεται, η χαριστική βολή για το κλείσιμο της εφημερίδας ήταν η αδυναμία καταβολής των φόρων προς το κράτος.
Η συντακτική επιτροπή ευχαρίστησε τους αναγνώστες για τα 15 χρόνια εμπιστοσύνης και τους ζήτησε συγνώμη για τις ‘ανησυχίες που προκάλεσε κατά καιρούς’.
