Recently, Armenian Deputy Defense Minister Hrachya Sarkisian noted that
Armenia does not intend to sue Russia over the non-fulfillment of arms deals,
under which Yerevan has not received the ordered military products, although it
has made the relevant payments.
Commenting on the words of the Armenian Deputy Defense Minister during a briefing for journalists on December 6, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia welcomes the position of the Armenian Defense Ministry. "We can only welcome this. We understand that the Russian Defense Ministry has a similar attitude," Zakharova said.
Touching upon Armenia's military-technical cooperation with other
countries, the Russian official noted that she would not like the Armenian
people to be deceived by the Western as if they were friends.
According to her, the French "Bastion" armored vehicles delivered
to the Transcaucasian CSTO member are illiquid, which is apparent even from the
situation unfolding in the context of Russia's special military operation.
"If many media, unfortunately, related to the current authorities in
Armenia, would not present this information in a distorted way and would not
engage in anti-journalistic activities, but would give the people of their
country the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the quotes and direct
speech, perhaps it would be clearer that once again the people of Armenia are
being slipped a fake by the West," Zakharova said.
According to her, it is also evident that a hodgepodge of military
equipment produced by different countries never contributes to improving
defense capabilities.
Moreover, she said that Baku has always confirmed to Moscow their readiness
to hold peace" negotiations with Yerevan.
"We sent invitations to countries to meet in Moscow and on the
sidelines of multilateral events in third countries. Baku has always confirmed
to us their readiness to hold negotiations. Unfortunately, we cannot say the
same about our Armenian partners," Zakharova said.
In her opinion, such a refusal is likely due to the Armenian side’s
reliance on Western mediators.
"Perhaps they [the Armenian
authorities] believe that their new advisers from Washington, Brussels, and
Paris will be able to offer something more interesting and effective. I don’t
know, I think it’s always used to evaluate the previous experiences of
neighbors in order to understand what the gatherings under the auspices of the
EU, including in Prague and Brussels, have led to," the Russian Foreign
Ministry spokesperson said.
