We are vehemently opposing the erection of Alexander the Great’s statue in the Skopje Square, in the capital of the FYROM. This act does not only show the usurpation of the Greek history by that country’s Slavs in the strongest terms, but it also portrays their true irredentist ideas such as land expansion. We are not fooled by the name "Warrior on a Horse", as Skopje's ultranationalist government is now clearly breaking the Interim Accord signed by the two countries in 1995.

Under no circumstances should the international community and the international legal system allow this theft of Greece’s most famous persona, Alexander the Great to take place. We, the Macedonians are proud of our Macedonian cultural identity for millennia and historic figures such as Alexander the Great are an integral part of Greek history. With respect to FYROM’s historical revisionism as a means to establish an identity in the modern world, please see: macedonia-evidence.org http://macedonia-evidence.org/obama-letter.html

Therefore we call upon the international community to intervene and put a stop to this crime that is taking place in Greece’s neighboring country.

The imminent  book presentation of the Greek-“Macedonian” lexicon  on June 22, 2011 at the European Parliament with the participation of MEP François ALFONSI and Günther DAUWEN President of the European Free Alliance, it is a confirmation of a shameless theft and forgery of Greek history. It is the blatant anti-European violation of the Interim Accord between the FYROM and Greece (signed in 1995) and the violation of any notion of abiding with International Law and good neighborly relations of a country, candidate for EU and NATO membership. The ‘tolerance” and civilized manner that Greece is displaying with the FYROM stance should not be misconstrued as weakness, because everything has limits. Macedonian History, the glory of Hellenism and the Macedonian name do not change nor do they get lost because the residents of the neighboring FYROM, mostly Slavs, are anxiously looking for national identity. We demand immediate restoration of our national dignity and history.

The upcoming and much advertised erection of the statue in Skopje’s central square of the FYROM of the so-called Equestrian Warrior, if it is finally the personification of Alexander the Great, it is a confirmation of a shameless theft and forgery of Greek history. It is the blatant anti-European violation of the Interim Accord between the FYROM and Greece (signed in 1995) and the violation of any notion of abiding with International Law and good neighborly relations of a country, candidate for EU and NATO membership.
