Egypt and Jordan have agreed to use a new shipping route between the two countries

In comments to industrial exporters to US and European countries on Sunday, Jordanian Minister of Transport, Wissam Al-Tahtamouni, said that her country was not affected by the disturbance of maritime navigation in the Red Sea due to the Yemeni Houthis’ attacks on Israeli-linked vessels.

She continued that Egypt and Jordan agreed on a shipping route with attractive privileges and facilities, and completed work on legislation related to it.

The new land and maritime cooperation started nearly two years ago, before the crisis of Red Sea navigation, Xinhua reported.

Also, the Director General of the Jordanian “Arab Bridge” Company, Adnan Al-Abadla, announced the Arab line for land and sea transport between the Jordanian port of Aqaba and the Egyptian ports on the Mediterranean will operate as an alternative to the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, Jordanian newspaper Al-Ghad quoted him.

Houthis of Yemen have attacked ships owned partially or completely to Israel or any vessels heading to Israel, in response to the Israeli ongoing genocidal war on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

Some international shipping companies like Maersk, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), French company CMA CGM, and German Hapag-Lloyd stopped taking the Red Sea route to avoid Bab el Mandeb and rerouted to the Cape of Good Hope, which is longer and costlier.
