Sarajevo.

The President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, also exercised his right to vote in the extraordinary parliamentary elections in the neighbouring country as a citizen of Serbia.

Upon his arrival in front of the Consulate General of Serbia in Banja Luka, he chatted with citizens who gathered to vote. He exercised his right to vote but did so contrary to the law that provides for the secrecy of voting, and declared who he would support in the election publicly in front of everyone.

“A stable Serbia is in our national interest, including for us in Republika Srpska. Republika Srpska has excellent relations with Serbia and when Serbia is stable it is easier for us to get the support we need”, said Dodik.

He pointed out how important it is that all Serbs in the Republika Srpska receive automatic citizenship of Serbia, without going through all the complicated procedures.

“That's why I always insist on this when I talk to the leadership of Serbia,” he said.

He also responded to criticism of certain politicians from Serbia who complained about the fact that citizens from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska with dual citizenship can vote in the elections in Serbia.

“We received citizenship according to the regulations of Serbia, not according to the regulations of some aliens,” said Dodik.

“We watched those who called the Republika Srpska all kinds of names during the election campaign, they are not friends of the Republika Srpska and the Serb people, they are those who would take over power and do everything against the interests of Serbia and the Serb people. Unfortunately for them, Republika Srpska will remain important and strong”, said Dodik.
