A beach in the city of Dahab in South Sinai was closed after a shark attacked an Egyptian swimmer on Wednesday, causing her a severe injury, Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad confirmed.

 The government based in eastern Libya announced Monday that Storm Daniel had claimed the lives of 2,000 in Derna, and that over 5,000 were missing.

Authorities declared three days of national mourning, but the Red Cross warned that it could take years to repair the damage.

The 6.8-magnitude quake struck late Friday in a mountainous area 72 kilometres (45 miles) southwest of the tourist city of Marrakesh, the US Geological Survey reported.
