North Macedonia is at the same level as Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Moldova in the latest list of the Rule of Law Index

In the most recent global Rule of Law Index by the World Justice Project (WJP), the Republic of North Macedonia ranks 67th among 142 countries in terms of its adherence to the rule of law.

The 2023 index, unveiled in Washington, DC, shows that North Macedonia maintains an overall score of 0.53, consistent with the previous three years.

This Rule of Law Index evaluates countries based on eight crucial dimensions: constraints on government powers, absence of corruption, open government, fundamental rights, order and security, regulatory enforcement, civil justice, and criminal justice.

According to the criterion Constraints on government powers, the country ranks 97th with a score of 0.47,

according to the absence of corruption it is in 75th place with an index of 0.45,

according to the transparency of the Government it is in 70th place with a score of 0.50,

and according to the basic rights to the 56th position with a score of 0.60.

When it comes to the criterion of order and security, North Macedonia is in 43rd place with a score of 0.80, according to the implementation of regulations in 94th position with 0.46, according to civil justice in 75th place with an index of 0.52 and according to criminal justice at 72nd with 0.44 points.

Compared to last year, although it has the same score, the country is ranked four places lower and is now on par with Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Moldova.
