The monthly income needed to support a family of three has increased by BGN 136 since the beginning of the year. In the last quarter it reached BGN 2,600 (€1,327), according to a survey conducted by the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB).

 In mid-November, the first helicopter for emergency medical assistance in Bulgaria will start flight tests, Deputy Minister of Health, prof. Ilko Getov, said during a visit to the base of Leonardo S.p.A in the Italian town of Vergate, where the first of six helicopters for air medical sevies is currently being built, the Ministry of Health reported on October 17.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov paid a visit to Berlin, where he held a meeting with Germany's Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Wednesday evening. At a joint press conference with Denkov, Scholz said he explicitly supports Bulgaria and Romania to become full Schengen members. Germany will continue to advocate the same to EU partners, the German Chancellor emphasized.

The helicopter, which was reported missing earlier on Friday, was found with the dead pilot's body in a remote ravine a couple of kilometres from the village of Garmen (Southwest Bulgaria), the Interior Ministry said Friday evening. A medical team is headed towards the scene.

A Lebanese school in Sofia started the new school year with nearly 500 pupils. It is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding and is now in a new building that will house only students from the school, which is named after Lebanese-American writer and poet Gibran Khalil Gibran, the organizers said.
